UM, Panasonic joint program to expose students to working environment

Bernama.com, 17 August 2010, KUALA LUMPUR - Universiti Malaya (UM) and Panasonic Malaysia have signed an MOU on Tuesday to implement a three-year training program, "From Cradle to Career," for UM students.  The program, the first industry-academia partnership in the country, is designed to enhance employability skills and expose them to the working environment.  Under the program slated to begin next year, students will serve as mobile promoters at Panasonic outlets in the first year.  If they excel, they will be offered a three- to six-month internship program in the second year.  During the final year of training, they will participate in Panasonic's retail sales certification program and be offered the posts of sales ambassador if their performance and work discipline are found exemplary.  (Also reported by Business Times)
