Panasonic Plans to Slash Prices to Foster Leap in Fuel Cell Sales
Panasonic aims to increase sales of household fuel cells from 3,000 to 5,000 units estimated for 2010 to as many as 10,000 units in 2015, by slashing prices from about Y3 million to less than Y1 million ($11,000) and making smaller cells for apartments. Panasonic is investing Y300 billion in its energy division as part of a plan to lift sales of fuel cells, solar panels and other energy-related products by 57% to Y850 billion in three years.
