Panasonic eyes top spot in 3D TV segment

KUALA LUMPUR - Panasonic Malaysia unveiled on Thursday two models of its VIERA 3D Full HD plasma TVs, both promising to bring "superior 3D depth and realism" into the living room. Panasonic aims to sell 1,000 units of the 50-inch model (RM14,999) and 500 units of the 65-inch model (RM23,999) by year-end. The company also aims to maintain its market leader position in the flat panel TV segment, of which it has a current market share of 20%. A pair of 3D eyewear is bundled with every purchase of these models. It is also offering a complimentary promotional package of every purchase of the new 3D TV, including an additional 3D eyewear, a Panasonic 3D Blu-ray player, and two 3D movies on Blu-ray. Panasonic also launched a 3D consumer camcorder. (Also reported by The Star Online)
