Panasonic is aiming to grab a 50% share of the European 3D TV market this year as demand outstrips expectations and the technology wins converts worldwide, Laurent Abadie, the head of Panasonic's European operations, said in an interview in Berlin. The company expects sales of 3D TVs to generate 15-20% of its revenue in Europe this year. By August, Panasonic had a market share of 35% in Europe for 3D TV sets with a 50-inch screen or bigger. The company had been caught by surprise by the high demand for 3D TVs - three to four times its target, Abadie said. The extra demand caused some delivery problems, but delivery will be back on track this month, he said. He expects new products, such as its 3D camcorder and new LUMIX G series camera with a 3D lens, will do their part in driving the demand event more.
