Factory tours and seed funding await

Under a new tie-up between the National Environment Agency (NEA) and Panasonic Asia Pacific, primary and secondary students will get a chance to submit proposals on environmental protection to the company.  Panasonic has set aside $150,000 for the scheme which includes seed funding to implement ideas that are selected.  The collaboration is the first time the NEA is working with an industry partner to roll out an experiential environment education module.  Starting March this year, students will get a first-hand look at eco-friendly manufacturing processes during factory tours to Panasonic, including cast iron chip recycling process at Panasonic Refrigeration Devices Singapore.  (Also reported by the Straits Times and Channel News Asia)
